Hoppsigen: Homologous Processed Pseudogenes database
Pole Bioinformatique Lyonnais
France | |
Hoppsigen is a nucleic database. It provides information on homologous retroelements (like SINE and LINE). There are 5,823 human retroelements and 3,934 mouse retroelements that have been identified and are contained in the repository. The non-functional sequences were given the name pseudogenes. The database, however, also contains functional genes obtained from ENSEMBL. A multiple alignment was calculated between the functional genes and their homologous retroelements. This was done for each family. A phylogenetic tree was also determined for each alignment and is available in the database. A www-query search option is provided.
