MBGD: Microbial Genome Database for Comparative Analysis

MBGD is a database with a workbench system for comparative analysis of completely sequenced microbial genomes, mainly for creating orthologous or homologous gene cluster tables. MBGD classifies genomes by the hierarchical clustering method known as UPGMA, using precomputed similarity relationships identified by all-against-all BLAST search. Users can change the set of organisms or cutoff parameters to create their own orthologous groupings. Thus comparative genomics is facilitated from various points of view such as ortholog identification, paralog clustering, motif analysis and gene order comparison. | |
