GBIF (Global Biodiversity Information Facility) is a database of information on Biodiversity and its global effect. A network of countries across the globe has access to, and participates in supplying, information to the database. There are 38 countries that support the facility financially and are therefore members of the voting governing board. The database contains 396,026,747 indexed records and 10,004 sets of data provided by 464 publishers. It is imperative that the users of any data obtained by means of the GBIF Portal will always give credit to the original data publishers. A keyword search option is provided whereby the facility can be searched for information on a specific group of organisms of a specific country or as displayed in a specific set of data. | |
